Facade Investigations & Corrections
Becht Engineering provides a full range of engineering services
including knowledge and experience in facade investigations,
corrections
and local law inspections.
We also have designed and overseen the construction of
windows/window
curtain wall systems. These improvements
have a dramatic affect on appearance, comfort level of
occupants and energy consumption.

Becht Engineering BT, Inc., evaluated and designed repairs
of the
brick facades for several (+/-) 90 year old school buildings. Inspections
were conducted using scaffold drops and manlifts. Our scope of work
also included the evaluation of the original steel lintels using non-destructive
ultrasonic testing. Our designs utilized contemporary materials and technology,
yet maintained the original appearance of these historic buildings.

A new window curtain wall system was designed for this
twelve story building.
The
new double pane system and low-E costing provide
a significant comfort increase. Construction phase services were provided
by Becht personnel
throughout completion of the project.

This high-rise was experiencing water infiltration throughout
their exterior walls.
The construction is an EIFS system. Becht performed an engineering inspection
and analysis of the conditions and identified improper installation methods
such
as incorrect caulk procedures and material specifications. Becht then
submitted
documentation as to the proper corrective procedures on behalf of the client.

An upscale high-rise with a brick facade had severe water infiltration and associated mold problems. Becht Engineering BT, Inc., completed the mold remediation and reconstruction and identified the source of the infiltration. Corrective work was successfully completed on those specific conditions. Planning for major reconstruction procedures included a new window replacement program.
